ASA/NSRA driver chooses retirement over risk
Adam Roduner retires from active driving
Quincy, WA – October 14, 2008 – Adam Roduner has chosen to step out of the drivers’ seat of the #82 car owned by R. J. Fronsman following his racing accident August 23rd at Stateline Stadium Speedway in Post Falls, Idaho.
Roduner was involved in a turn one altercation with another car, his car leaving the racetrack rolling once and landing on its wheels. With help from the emergency crews on site Adam removed himself from his car. Initial examination indicated he should seek further evaluation. Adam was taken to Valley Hospital and Medical Center in Spokane, WA where doctors determined he had a compression fracture of number four vertebra (T-4) in the thoracic region of his back. The fracture was on the inside of the vertebra closest to his spinal cord. Doctors advised Roduner that if he were to reinjure that vertebra he could risk losing the use of his lower body.
Adam Roduner has chosen to retire from the racing driver’s seat rather than chance another racing accident in the future and the risk of losing the use of his legs. Roduner is married with two children making the decision, though disappointing to him, an easy choice.
Adam Roduner is expected to make a complete recovery and did not require surgery or a back brace. He was ordered by his doctors to substantially limit his activities for thirty days to allow healing of the T-4 vertebra.
Adam Roduner intends to stay active in winged sprint car racing through helping his long time friend R. J. Fronsman in his racing endeavors but not from the driver’s seat.
