To All,

I got the news today that Bob Wade, Past NSRA President (1998-99) had lost his battle to cancer on June 2, 2009. I took over as President for Bob when work demands and family needed to come first with him. He was a rabid sprint car fan who especially enjoyed pavement racing. Bob lived and worked on the “Island” (Victoria, B.C.) during the heyday of Canadian drivers involved in Indy racing, an enthusiasm that has yet to diminish in that neighborhood.

Bob and his son Jeff would become one of a number of Canadian racing teams that help to build what is today the ASA/NSRA Sprint Car Series. The Wades involvement didn’t stop with the racing, they continued to work for the betterment of the sport and Bob graciously accepted the Presidency of the Association, striving to seek out new tracks for the series to be exposed to racing fans through out the Northwest.

Bob was instrumental in setting up the first NSRA sprint car events at Mission Valley Speedway (Ronan, Montana) and Sun Valley Speedway (Vernon, B.C.), establishing those contacts for the Association after he stepped down as President. I will always be grateful for his advice and willingness to “run down a lead” for me. Son Jeff tells me that Bob continued to keep up with Association news and the website, absent, but never gone from the sport he loved and the friends he made in it. Bob also fulfilled a life long dream of going to the Indy 500 in 2008.

Bob left behind his wife Laurie of 40+ years ( my apologies for the lack of accuracy here) and four sons.

It would be nice of those who knew Bob and his family to take your thoughts and memories to the NSRA forum on the website. Jeff informs me this would please Bob and the Wade family greatly.

Bob Wade 11/11/38-6/2/09 “Keep them organized in Heaven Bob”.

Mike Sullivan Sr.

President ASA/NSRA
