Matt Mansell: Hero to children at Meridian Speedway
May 29 & 30 - Meridian Speedway, Meridian Idaho. Matt, sweeping down from Victoria B.C., Canada for the Diamond Cup Spectacular qualified well enough both days to be seeded into the B trophy Dash each day. Moreover he won his Dash each day.
At the presentations in the winners circle on the front straight the track promoter picked two young children from the grandstands to come down to the racing surface to meet the winning drivers and have their photo taken. In a far reaching act of kind generosity Matt stated, “Whenever I win I like to give something back to the fans.” With that he presented his trophy each day to the young child next to him ! Matt Mansell understands the importance fans have in racing and the opportunity to put a very long lasting sparkle in a child’s eye.
Mansell no doubt made two new excited young fans over the weekend, with those two impatiently waiting for Matt to return in September to root him on once again. Matt Mansell may have not won the main event either night but he certainly won the admiration of two young race fans !
